Beth Shalom Sisterhood is honored to continue the legacy of Rikki Haith and her group, Prayer Works by offering Prayer Partners, a monthly gathering dedicated to the healing power of prayer.
Being part of a community means offering our time, care, and prayers for those who are ill. Each Shabbat morning names of the ill are read aloud so that we focus our prayers. As our tradition teaches, a single arrow can be broken easily, but a bundle of arrows cannot. In praying together we become stronger as one.
The group will meet on the third Tuesday of the month (dates adjusted for the synagogue schedule) from 10:00 – 11:30 in Stacey’s Study. Our first meeting will be October 21, followed by November 18, and December 16. Meetings are free and open to the entire community. Donations to Sisterhood are accepted. Water will be available, and light refreshments will be served following the meeting.
Each meeting will include time for members to share names for prayers, followed by guided relaxation, breathing, and focused prayer. Together we will explore the difference between “healing” and “cure”.
Participants often find that in giving prayers, they receive strength and peace themselves.
Prayer Partners will be led by Suzanne Lange, retired clinical psychologist and Beth Shalom member for 13 years. Suzanne has extensive experience in teaching, leading groups, and guiding focused prayer. In the past Suzanne has stepped in to lead a prayer group when no one else was available. For more information please contact Suzanne at suzvick@yahoo.com or the synagogue office.
