Experiencing Jewish Living: Lifelong Learning

Members stay engaged with our community because they feel included in all events and activities as well as the ability to learn and study Torah in a setting that is comfortable for all levels of knowledge.

Experiencing Jewish living by learning with these exciting programs and more:

We have a community of adult learners who attend a monthly Talmud Jam class lead by our Rabbi.  There is our Sisterhood, our oldest synagogue supported organization that has many activities, including the Sarah Peltzman Series and Sisterhood Book Club.  Many members also attend classes in acclaimed Melton School. Others engage ritually by learning to lead services or read Torah.

Talmud Jam – Lunchtime Talmud Study over lunch

We gather to learn Talmud (in translation), and study current topics.   This is a lively class of both professionals and retirees that meets for lunch with engaging learning for one hour.  Class usually takes place the Second Wednesday of the Month (after the Holidays) from 12:00 – 1:00 pm.  Cost: free; lunch provided. RSVP’s are a must.  For dates and to register, contact the Ritual Coordinator.

Kaplan Scholar-in-Residence

Kaplan Scholar-in-Residence weekend is scheduled annually on Sisterhood Shabbat.   During the weekend, a prominent guest scholar engages congregants at several educational events.  Sisterhood Shabbat is celebrated nationally by all Sisterhoods affiliated with Women’s League for Conservative Judaism.  In conjunction with this observance, members of Sisterhood lead prayers and services throughout the weekend.  The Abe and Catherine Kaplan Fund and Beth Shalom Sisterhood sponsor the weekend’s events.
