Do you have a Child or Grandchild that is interested in attending a Jewish Summer camp or going to Israel on a sponsored trip? Did you know that Congregation Beth Shalom has a Scholarship fund? Thanks to the generosity of those that came before us, we are lucky to be able to provide financial assistance. The Assistance is need based. In order to be considered for a Scholarship, please fill out the Scholarship application that is available on the Congregation Web site HERE. The community also has funds available via the Guardian Society, but in order to be considered for their funds, you must also apply for a Congregation Beth Shalom Scholarship, and we will coordinate with the Guardian Society. Applications are due March 9, 2026. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Richard Simon, Scholarship Chairman, at kcrufus@gmail.com.
The Jewish Community Foundation offers three scholarships for individuals planning to attend Jewish summer programs. The Karen and Ed Porter Jewish Experience Award Fund provides one-time assistance for programs or Jewish travel experiences that foster leadership development, spiritual growth, community engagement, or personal Jewish enrichment. Priority is given to high school or college students who are marginally connected to the Jewish community or questioning their Jewish identity. Awards are based on merit, though financial need may also be considered.
The E. David Soltz Israel Scholarship Fund is a need-based scholarship designed to assist high school or college students seeking a deeper understanding of Judaism through study in Israel.
The Allen and Janet Agron Camp Ramah Scholarship Fund supports students attending Camp Ramah in Wisconsin. Allen Agron fondly remembered his years as a camper and wanted to share that joy with others. Scholarships of up to $1,000 for four-week sessions and up to $2,000 for eight-week sessions are available. Decisions are based on merit and financial need relative to the total cost of the camp session.
Application forms are available on the Jewish Community Foundation’s website at www.jcfkc.org/scholarships. Applications and letters of recommendation are due by Friday, February 27, 2026.
