Blending the joy of outdoor learning and scouting with the connection to Jewish life, Beth Shalom sponsors Scout Troop 61. As the only Jewish Scout troop in Kansas City, our instruction has a Jewish perspective and emphasizes Jewish values. Current and past members have come from all faiths.
The troop meets every Monday evening at CBS and sponsors one outing a month. Each summer, the troop journeys to its annual summer camp locale, at H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation near Osceola, Missouri.
One of the oldest and best-known troops in the Kansas City area, Troop 61 was chartered in 1925. Over 1,400 youngsters have been members of the troop with more than 300 of our scouts achieving the coveted rank of Eagle Scout. Third-generation Troop 61’ers are not unusual!
