The SARAH PELTZMAN EDUCATIONAL SERIES consists of three educational units, beginning Thursday morning, October 27, 10:00-11:30 a.m., sponsored by the Congregation Beth Shalom Sisterhood. All units will be presented live and in-person in Goldsmith Hall from 10-11:30 am.
The cost is $25.00 for each unit and a discounted fee of $60 if you enroll in all three units by the beginning of the 22-23 year. The fee for couples is $35 per unit and $90 total for a couple enrolling in all three units at the beginning of the 22-23 year.
All units are open to the entire Jewish community of Greater Kansas City. Each unit will consist of five weeks of class.

Ocober 27, November 3, 10, 17 & December 1, 2022 (Goldsmith Hall) There is a break for Thanksgiving
Topic—“Our Jewish Texts and the Soul.” Rabbi Padorr will be using excerpts from the book, Does the Soul Survive? by Rabbi Elie Spitz, and looking at them through the lens of the Torah and other Jewish texts as a basis for our study. She will be covering such topics as “how does the Misheberach prayer help those who are ill?” and a look at the Afterlife. For those who took her course previously, this is an updated and expanded version with new materials.
February 2, 9, 16 & 23, March 2, 2023 (Goldsmith Hall)
Topic—“Midrash: The What and Why Behind the Stories You Think You Know.” This unit will be a continuation of Hazzan’s 21-22 class but will focus on Midrash from the book of Exodus with all new materials.
April 20, 27 and May 4, 11 & 18 (Goldsmith Hall)
Topic–“A Gathering of Angels.” This is a course based on the book by our own late Rabbi Morris B. Margolies, z’’l. The book pores through nearly three thousand years of literature and lore in this exploration of the angels who shape and reflect Jewish beliefs, hopes, and fears. NOTE: This class will immediately follow the holiday of Passover where we encountered the Angel of Death.
