A NEW Menu for Your Mind (view last year’s videos below)

The SARAH PELTZMAN EDUCATIONAL SERIES consists of three educational units, beginning Thursday morning, October 14, 10:00-11:00 a.m., sponsored by Congregation Beth Shalom’s Sisterhood.

Unit One will be presented via Zoom. Conditions permitting, Unit Two will be in Goldsmith Hall.

The cost is $15 for unit one, $20 each for units two and three, or $45 for all three units. The fee for couples is $65 total and includes all three units.

All units are open to the entire Jewish community of Greater Kansas City. Each unit (lasting four class sessions) is followed by a fifth session with a “guest speaker.”

Our very own Rabbi Cohen will look at selections from Ruth Calderon’s “A Bride for One Night” and the Talmud’s (Bava Kamma, Chapter 8) statement that there is a “yes” that is a “no” that is a “yes”

Guest speaker Rabbi Rafi Cohen will be looking at a rabbinic text and reading it for those times and now.

Rabbi Rafi Cohen serves as director of admissions for both The Rabbinical School and the H. L. Miller Cantorial School. In this role, he guides prospective students in discerning the path of their Jewish commitments and assists them in gaining the experience they need to successfully prepare for and begin lives of sacred service. Unit 3 – Rabbi David Glickman

April 28, May 5, 12 & 19 (Goldsmith Hall)

Topic–“Great Arguments: How the Jewish Methods of Disagreement are What the World Needs Now.” 

This is a course based on Rabbi Morey Schwartz’s book “Where’s My Miracle.”  The course will dive into how different Jewish belief systems can be helpful (or sometimes unhelpful) when facing life’s inevitable difficulties. This is an expansion of the Melton course taught in 2021.
